Kedarkantha Trek from Delhi Itinerary (5 Days/ 4 Nights)

Day 0: Departure from Delhi
  • Get out of the house, catch the bus/train, and reach Dehradoon by the next morning.
  • Sankri is the Base village of the Kedarkantha Trek. You will be travelling 200 KM from Dehradoon towards the north and will reach Sankari.
(Sankri is full of old-style Garhwali wooden houses. Villagers are warm and welcoming.)
  • Your instructor will give a brief about the trek, suggesting safety tips.
  • Have a delicious meal and go to bed.
  • Wake up and have an energising breakfast.
  • Start your 4 km trek to Juda ka talab.
  • Initially, you will see the Himalayan village life, fields, crops, and cattle grazing. And start entering the dense forest of Pine, oak and Maple forest.
  • Birds’ sounds, natural water streams and mesmerising scenes of snow-capped mountains you will see in this route.
  • After 5-6 hours, you will reach the Juda ka talab campsite.
  • Witness this mystical lake and nature.
  •  Have a delicious meal, and camp under the starry sky.
Altitude Gain: ~6,400 ft. to ~9,000 ft. Trekking Duration: 5-6 Hours
  • On day 3, you will start trekking toward Kedarkantha base camp.
  • The forest trails gradually open into more sunlight, and the higher peaks will start appearing.
  • Transitions from forest to meadows and ridges will feel like a new world of snow.
  • On clear days, you can get your first views of Kedarkantha summit, the goal.
  • Reach at the Kedarkantha base camp in the afternoon and have a fruitful Lunch.
  • You can head on a walk and explore the pine forest.
  • Enjoy Bonefire, and have dinner in the camps.
 
Altitude Gain: ~9,000 ft. to ~11,200 ft. Trekking Duration: 3-4 hours
  • Now comes the highlight of the trek, “The Kedarkantha Summit climb”.
  • The trekking will start early in the morning, around 2:000 – 3:00 AM with headlamps.
  • Dark and cold forest will create a magical and adventurous atmosphere.
  • You will challenge yourself with the steepest part of the trek for the next 1.5 KM.
  • Reach the Summit before sunrise, and that will be an unforgettable sunrise of your journey.
  • Enjoy the summit and don’t forget to watch the 360° views of famous peaks, Swargarohini, Bandarpoonch, Black Peak, Gangotri, and Yamunotri ranges.
  • Descend back to Kedarkantha base camp and then to Juda ka talab carefully.
  • You will cover Kedarkantha base camp and Hargaon camp and reach Juda ka talab.
Altitude: ~11,200 ft (Base Camp) → 12,500 ft (Summit) Trek Duration: 6–7 hours round trip (~6 km)
  • On Day 5, start your morning at Base camp, the last day of seeing Snowy peaks.
  • Have breakfast and descend back to Sankri village.
  • Grazing cattle and Himalayan crop fields will signal that you have reached Sankri.
  • Meet the driver and reach home safely.

Yes, some trekkers prefer joining directly from Sankri. In that case, you will meet your trek leader at Sankri and all arrangements from there will be taken by us.
The Maximum altitude of the trek will be around 12,500 ft, which is the Kedarkantha summit. We will reach here on day 4 of the journey. You can see a 360° view of Himalayan peaks like Swargarohini, Bandarpoonch, and Black Peak.
Since it is a beginner-level trek, you just need a basic fitness level for it. To prepare more, you can jog 4-5 km daily for 2 weeks, and you will be well prepared for this trek.
Kids above 10 can join this trek if they are physically fit and active. Elders up to 60 can also join this trek if they are fit and have no major health issues. (Please consult your doctor beforehand in this case.)
